Comrex Connect Modems

The Comrex Connect Modem is designed to support the unique needs of remote broadcasters. A high-powered, industrial strength 4G/LTE modem outfitted with a high-gain antenna, the Connect Modem is more powerful than most USB data modems available on the market, to handle the heavy data load of a broadcast over IP. PTCRB and carrier-approved.

Connect Modems can be used with our entire ACCESS family of IP audio codecs in addition to our LiveShot Portable IP video codec. Our portable IP audio codecs (ACCESS Portable, 2USB, and NX) have mounting options for single and dual modem use to choose from.

Connect Modems can also be utilized with our BRIC-Link family of IP audio codecs as well but only as a backup network when used in HotSwap mode. Connect Modems cannot be used as a primary network for BRIC-Link units.

Although not specifically listed, some other modems are supported as Ethernet devices only. This means they will appear to the codec as a simple Ethernet port, and should be pre-configured to auto-connect. Unfortunately, when using these modems, no connect status or signal strength info is available by the network manager within the user interface. It may be possible to see modem status on ACCESS by opening the integrated web browser and inputting the UI address of the modem, which is different for different models. It’s usually not possible to use more than one type of this modem simultaneously.
Some of the modems that work this way are:

  • Huawei E3272
  • Huawei E3372
  • Huawei E3276 with Hilink firmware
  • Most ZTE devices
  • Alcatel L800Z
