Connect Modems for Audio Codecs

Comrex Connect Modems are unlocked and have been carrier approved and PTCRB certified to meet all necessary regulations.

Carrier Information

The Connect Modem for Comrex IP audio codecs is available in three varieties: 

• US (for use with Verizon or AT&T networks)
• International (for use outside the United States)
• CJ (for use in China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and Brazil)

Prior to 7/1/2020, there were FOUR versions of Connect Modems for Comrex audio codecs (Verizon and AT&T were sold as separate modems). The manuals for the 1st generation carrier specific AT&T and Verizon Connect Modems can be found HERE for ACCESS Portable Classic/2USB and HERE for ACCESS NX.

Compatibility

Connect Modems are compatible with ACCESS 2USB*, ACCESS NX, ACCESS Rack, ACCESS NX Rack, and ACCESS MultiRack.

When used in HotSwap mode, a Connect Modem can be utilized as a backup secondary network for BRIC-Link II and BRIC-Link III. Connect Modems cannot be used as a primary network on BRIC-Link II or BRIC-Link III units.

*Some ACCESS 2USB units with serial numbers between 5000 and 6200 may require a hardware upgrade to be compatible with Comrex Connect Modems. For information about your unit, contact us. Please have the serial number or MAC address of your ACCESS 2USB unit readily available.

FW 4.5p13 or higher is required to use the US Connect Modem with ACCESS 2USB, ACCESS NX Portable, ACCESS Rack, ACCESS NX Rack, ACCESS MultiRack, BRIC-Link II, and BRIC-Link III. 

Please note that ACCESS Portable Classic is not able to use the new US Connect Modem. In addition, BRIC-Link Classic is not able to use a Connect Modem in HotSwap mode due to hardware limitations.

Mounting Bracket Details

Portable units (ACCESS NX and ACCESS 2USB) require Connect Modem mounting brackets. 

For ACCESS 2USB Portable –

• To use one modem, a single standard bracket mount is required.
• To use two modems, both a standard bracket mount and an EXT bracket mount are required. 

For ACCESS NX Portable –

• To use one modem, a single bracket mount is required. 
• To use two modems, a dual bracket mount is required. No single bracket mount needed.

Studio units (ACCESS Rack, ACCESS NX Rack, ACCESS MultiRack, BRIC-Link II, and BRIC-Link III) don’t require any mounting hardware – simply plug your Connect Modem directly into the USB port of your codec.

Connect Modems for LiveShot Video Codecs

The Connect Modem for LiveShot comes in three* varieties:

• Verizon
• AT&T
• International (for use outside the United States)

Connect Modems are unlocked and have been carrier approved and PTCRB certified to meet all necessary regulations.

LiveShot Portable supports up to two Comrex Connect Modems. 

*CJ (for use in China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea & Brazil) not available for LiveShot
