Support after all these Years....

by Marsha Cook, Comrex Operations Manager

Last week I received an email requesting a manual. That was not unusual. But it was the start of a very interesting time. The mail was from George Yoakum of KKOB and other Citadel stations in Albuquerque, NM and was a request for the manual for a Comrex Radio Receiver, Model RRB.

KKOB 1

I have been with Comrex for over seven years and am familiar with many older products but this one was out of my league. I turned to Erik Thoresen (over 25 years) and he said, "Oh yeah. That is one of our wireless mic receivers. It has to be at least twenty years old.." With the unit and approximate age identified, we went off in search of a manual. And we were successful. The manual was copied and sent off to George.

I followed up by asking what they were doing with the unit. His answer was just what we expect from Comrex customers.

"Yes, we still use the units here for remote broadcasts from sporting events and the like where they might interview people in the crowd. We use two identical units which have been in the station service for at least 20 years."

We asked George for some pictures and here they are. George is in the red shirt and the gentleman with the mic is Evans, a summer intern. Proof positive you can rely on Comrex to support your older equipment and provide your newer gear. Other Comrex gear at these stations include DXR.1, DXP.1, HotLines and Vectors.
